In July of 2023, I was honored to travel around southern Iceland to capture several elopements for couples. These adventure elopements are unique and definitely designed for the adventurer at heart! When choosing an adventure elopement, you have so much time to yourself and with your photographer. There are no rules! We were able to make stops along the way and photograph in multiple places with the same couple. We even added some outfit changes! Tips for Photographing on Black Sand Beach
If you are considering eloping at Black Sand Beach in Iceland, here are a few tips:
- Elope in the summertime! Iceland has a unique climate. It is typically warmer and sunnier in the summer, so that's when it's most open to tourists. You'll have better road conditions and more sunlight!
- The sun hardly sets in the summer, which gives you so many options for eloping without crowds of tourists! I recommend planning for your vows at midnight with the midnight sun or arriving to your location before 7 a.m. to have as much privacy and best lighting as possible.
- Ladies, secure your veils! The beach can get windy as the day progresses. You may miss it in the early morning, but be prepared for wind gusts to come out of nowhere! Have a plan incase the wind kicks up. It may be in your best interest to have an updo for your hair as well.
- Rent a car and drive around with your photographer! Have your photographer be your guide for the day so you have the freedom to pull over and stop wherever you find an amazing backdrop, which is almost everywhere in Iceland! Plus, by car is the best way to get around the Iceland.
